These are Vanilla bean and poppy seed cupcakes, with vanilla swiss meringue buttercream. I made them to be sold at my grandma's school, and the money raised is to be donated to the British Legion's Poppy Appeal.
Sadly, the humidity of the night destroyed most of the fondant poppies, and while they still look pretty, it was beyond disappointing to see them wilted after I'd spent two whole days making them. These ones photographed were the least damaged of all of them.
The title is in reference to the poem "Dulce et Decorum est" by Wilfred Owen.
