TARDIS cupcakes by thesearejessicakes TARDIS cupcakes by thesearejessicakes
UPDATE: Please don't critique these any more - I have since remade the TARDIS cupcakes and would appreciate you offering your critiques on the new version, instead. Thank you! You can find the new ones by clicking on this thumbnail:

Blueberry TARDIS cupcakes! The gold glitter is the Huon Particles, and the multicoloured glitter is to make the starry cupcake look a little more... space-like. Heh. I definitely want to remake these, since I want to try and make better looking TARDIS's. I'd also like to try and find more Doctor Who themed flavours than anything, though.

PLEASE don't repost on other websites!

You definitely got the Doctor who theme! I love the color of the icing its perfect to represent space. I love the amount of stars on the other but I'm kind of on the fence about the multicolored glitter i kind of think it should match with the other but I'm OCD so you don't have to listen to me about that but I definitely get the concept of the multicolored.
Like i said i love the way you blended the colors of the icing and the shape of the stars are great the don't look misshapen or anything at all. This is the first Doctor who cupcake I've seen go I can't really comment on the TARDIS being original or not but you have to admit its something that you have to put on a Doctor Who themed cupcakes and again first I've seen but I imagine blueberry is a flavor a lot of people use to make it look Tardis blue.
You have amazing technique in my opinion. The way the icing is colored the color and perfect shape of the stars, the matching color of the TARDIS. I think that the TARDIS could look a little better but It still looks great.
It defiantly made an impact. I would love to have cupcakes like this. I would love to be able to make cupcakes like this. It really did blow my mind.
What do you think?

sounds delicious and fun :D just an idea you could probably use even yellow glitter or even star sprinkles I've seen them in party stores, or brighter shades of blue. for a recipe you could probably try vanilla or lemon.  for a surprise you could even color the cupcakes green, red, even purple cause some times particles in space left behind by exploding stars are different colors like for instance purple, even pink. :D have fun making your cupcakes by the way. I love doctor who too. love your cupcakes :)

I feel like I'm missing something with the coloured cupcakes. Is there any point in adding the colour to the cake itself? There seems to be no references to the show. (There's also that fact of "no." because there's already a lot of food dye in the icing, and there are actually laws against using more than a certain amount of food dye per a certain amount of cake. So... yeah, I'd rather not unnecessarily colour the cake, too.) You would be able to create the 'spacey' look by using coloured sugar and rainbow sprinkles in white cake. ^_^

But yes, thanks either way, and might I refer you to version 2 of these guys: thesearejessicakes.deviantart.…

If you've got a tardis of your own to get back to April of last year, then sure!

(I actually didn't use a recipe; just a basic vanilla sponge, which I know from memory, and blended blueberries poured in.)

If you do give them a go, I'd love to see the end result!

Ooh! Right... Bullet points are needed, because I'm terrible at explaining things.

- Make your blue buttercream
- split it into two, and continue to add colouring to one bowl to make it a darker blue/more indigo shade
- get a cup and put your piping bag into it, folding it over the top. This'll hold it for you, and makes putting the buttercream into the piping bag.
- With a tablespoon, and sticking to opposite sides of the piping bag, spoon in the buttercreams. Alternate the colours (so 1 scoop of blue on the left side of the bag; one scoop of indigo on the right side of the bag; repeat). Doing this will help keep the ratio of blue to indigo pretty even throughout the bag.
- Once you've 2/3 filled your bag, you're good to start piping! :D

I hope this makes sense, and I'd love to see photos of your cupcakes if and when you try them! :)

Bahah. Maybe on the next lot of Whovian cakes I make. :3
